NISKAYUNA — The construction of a Holocaust memorial and education center being spearheaded by a local orthodontist seemed destined for land along Route 7 land formerly owned by the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese.
The late Michael Lozman, who passed away in October, founded the Capital District Jewish Holocaust Memorial.
But his years long vision took on a higher profile, and new location, when state Sen. Pat Fahy’s office announced that she and Assemblywoman Gabriella Romero had introduced legislation to establish a permanent New York State Holocaust Memorial in the Empire State Plaza.
The measure “directs the commissioner of the Office of General Services to erect a monument to be known as the New York state Holocaust memorial.”
